Hey hey I'm just trying to get my svn install going
#1
I found http://pcsx2.net/download/development/git.html

but I don't really know how to get right to git.. & even if I did.. which path I'd link to SVN style download the emulator releases specifically.

Any suggestions ? :-)

I realize maybe the actual Git is hidden for a reason.. I'm no thief.. just a fellow who wants to stay up to date on the latest & greatest easily.

If you hit download you will be taken here

http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/index.php

The buildbot builds the latest version automatically so you don't have to go through and compile it yourself which is a good thing.

I understand..

I'm not very confident about what I'm asking for.. so I'll show an example to see if you have any more advice..

Here's an example of what I'd "like" to do

I make a folder.. copy a link.. right click folder.. download emulator into folder via link & my TortoiseSVN client.. & can right click update at will.

Quote:SVN url: https://github.com/LiquidAtoR/TidyBags
You can access GitHub with a regular SVN client.
When you checkout a GitHub SVN repo with TortoisSVN, you can select the repository URL, the Checkout directory and Checkout Depth together with revisions.

I never knew tortoiseSVN could do that.

The URL I think your looking for is https://github.com/PCSX2/pcsx2

thank you very much :-)

I clicked the link just to see what I could expect & I'm curious.. is this that link to the Linux section ?

Ideally I'd get a link with the Windows install.. & I'm able to refresh it at will as it's updated.. that's my intention :-)

The GIT(SVN) is referring to where the source code is hosted. The build bot simply builds that code and offers it for download. I am not aware of any way to download the builds with GIT, only the source code (which is the same for all platforms).

ohhh bummer :-(

is there something classy I could do to keep the build up to date ? since I believe the emulator doesn't have a built in updater does it ?

If you just want to play games (i.e. not develop and modify PCSX2 yourself), you should get the pre-built packages if possible for your system.

For windows it's either the official release: http://pcsx2.net/download/releases/windows/ or a more recent development build: http://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

For Linux it's either the official release: http://pcsx2.net/download/releases/linux.html or more recent development build (PPA): https://launchpad.net/~gregory-hainaut/+...ficial.ppa

If you're comfortable with building PCSX2 yourself, get the source code from github, and build it yourself. But if you just want to play games, this should probably be your last option.

'svn' (subversion) and 'git' are just systems to store the source code (PCSX2 was using svn and then moved to git just less than a year ago), and the term 'svn PCSX2 build' or 'git PCSX2 build' refers to a recent development build (which could be buggy) right from the latest source code.

hey thanks very much ^_^

I do understand I could just download a build & use it..

The only thing I'm interested in further than that is updating it.. with the svn I've gotten used to just right clicking & hitting update & being able to update that way.. since the program doesn't update itself..

vs just.. downloading a new build every time there is one & overwriting or clearing out & starting from scratch when a new build is released..

so I guess what i'm looking for is a classy way to keep up to date.. short of checking for newer releases on the site.. downloading the newer release myself & proceeding in that fashion..
