Hi there, patch question.

Pedge, would you mind booting those two games and reporting their CRC? I can't do much until I have that, and having them will help me clarify exactly which version of the game you have. (I'd like Game ID, as well as CRC.)

Since I'm not exactly sure, here's the whole thing, sorry I'm not a newb at such things but am new at this particular emulator.

the easier way to detect,identify CRC and create pnach w/ identified CRC is using 0.9.6 there even seen the CRC on 0.9.6's console window]
heres how btw:
0.9.6--->Run the Game--->Suspend game(ESC)---[Misc-->patch browser]--->[pnach writer-->(Insert Gametitle+comment)Save]--->Exit emulator
it will save to the patches folder of 0.9.6 be sure you memorized the CRC no. then Cut and Paste to your cheats folder of newer pcsx2
and start making cheats.
Main PC1:i5-4670,HD7770(Active!)
Main PC2:i5-11600K,GTX1660Ti(Active!)
PCSX2 Discord server IGN:smartstrike
PCSX2 version uses:Custom compiled build 1.7.0 64-bit(to be update regularly)

Thanks, Tallbender. But I'm trying to create cheats without actually having access to the game. I will admit a full log dump was a bit much...

ANYWAY!

My experience thus far has been about as enjoyable as kicking a shark in the nuts. But I'm trying. @_@

I converted some Codebreaker cheats, but need them tested. I also need the CRC for Metal Gear Solid 3.

//Infinite Health
patch=1,EE,E0020792,extended,0027B7F0
patch=1,EE,2027B7F4,extended,240200C8
patch=1,EE,2027B7F8,extended,A6020792

//Infinite Ammo
patch=1,EE,2015E0A0,extended,00000000

//Extra Ammo
patch=1,EE,2015E09C,extended,00711821

I've attached the .pnach file for you to place in the cheats folder. Give it a try, and tell me if it works.

Hmm MEGS3 is working, but 2 just hangs at the playstation 2 logo at the bios start. Anyone have any ideas? Sorry for not testing 2 before you went through all the trouble. Its a good disc and I know it works in the software so I don't know what could be up.

Does the game run without patching enabled? If my codes are bad, they might be making the game freeze. Also, I need MGS3's CRC.

Where exactly should I be seeing the CRC, so I don't have to do a big long paste again? Laugh Oh and MGS2 doesn't work with or without.

boot the game first

in PCSX2 program log window,
find line that written like this:

ELF (cdrom0:\SLUS_214.52;1) Game CRC = 0xCC96CE93

the game CRC is CC96CE93

don't include the "0x"

Game CRC = 0x053D2239

Just being safe with the full line. Laugh

Game CRC = 0xBFBBB524 for MGS2. well the version I have thats not the directors cut as that version's disc is a little scratched I noticed so that might be it.

What the... That CRC for Metal Gear Solid 2 is completely different to the one from the log dump. Something is wrong here...

Your dump gave me this:

(SYSTEM.CNF) Detected PS2 Disc = cdrom0:\SLUS_205.54;1
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.00
(SYSTEM.CNF) Disc region type = NTSC
ELF (cdrom0:\SLUS_205.54;1) Game CRC = 0xC539049D

I also need the game's serial number to identify which version of MGS3 you have:

A serial looks like this: SLUS_214.52;1

That one is for Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. (MGS: Sons of Liberty was the 'original' version, which I have. Yours is Substance.)

I really want to sort out why MGS2 is freezing. Which PCSX2 version are you running, and have you tried turning presets on, then off again, to clear settings?
