How demanding is dark Cloud 2?
#1
Even on native res I get FPS dips. At 4x native res I get as low as 35FPS in spots. I ahve to turn up VU cyclestealing and EE cyclerate to 3. No other speed hacks work for this game except for MTVU with gave me like 5FPS. So all in all I gained about 16FPS total. As of now in the underground waterway I get a max of 66fps at 4x native res and 2x AA on.

I would think those specs are fine, but i dont have the game, Another thing to consider is if the game had fps drops on the ps2 it gona have them on pcsx2, which as far as i am aware there is no way around that

Those specs are fine. Plenty fine.

Just FYI: Dark Cloud 2 runs at 30fps on PS2 I believe (DC1 ran at 60).

If the game is capped at 30 FPS then I wouldnt be able to go past 30 by normal means. So the game is capped at 60FPS not 30. I never encountered a PS2 game that is capped at 30 FPS. Gamcube games sure but not PS2.

Yeah, fade2black2001 you are confusing vFPS and rFPS. FFXI is capped at 30 as well.

You sure? How do you know its capped at 30? Everything says im runng the game at 60. The emulator itself and also FRAPS. If the FPS shown on PCSX2 isnt the REAL FPS then the real FPS is not shown is it?

I don't know if SoTC is capped, it might just be frame independent rendering.

Final Fantasy XI? You've played it on PCSX2? ...

Even the PC version of FFXI runs at 30fps. I played it for 5 years, I would know.

The number at the top in the GSDX window is not necessarily the games FPS, btw.
