How do I play ps1 games?

Hi I wanted to play my ps1 games in pcsx2 but it keeps on crashing and it looks weird. I put PAL FF7 into my PC and it was ran weird and crashed pcsx2, so I tried playing my USA game (again from a disc) and that didn't work either. So I dumped both games and played them as ps1 bin files and it didn't  work either. How can I fix this? Do I have to change them into a ISO file?
