How many GigaFlops does PCSX2 0.9.7 beta need?

Hi I just wanted to know how many GigaFlops does a dual core processor need in order to emulate a PS2 successfully at full speed or more my system has a maximum theoretical performance of about 80 gigaflops.

theres no dualcore with 80 gigaflops.

a core i7 3,33ghz with 6 cores has about 80 gigaflops. says wikipedia.

and pcsx can only use 2 of them. cores, i mean

Intel says highest is 55 GFlops for a normal desktop CPU Tongue

Anyway it's not accurate to measure performance like that because the GFlops are supposed to be the theorical peak and not the regular performance.

Also there's probably no consumer CPU that can emulate PS2 full speed, there's always some game or some scene in a game that will be much slower.

and Cyphox i7 only has 4 cores lol Intel hasn't released it's Hexacores yet!! xD

maybe geist has an engeneering sample. or he works at intel.

GigaFLOPS are also not very relevant to emulation, because emulators must emulate MEMORY in addition to computations. On most modern PCs, the main limiting factors for PCSX2 emulation speed are memory bandwidth and raw instruction throughput (integer math as much as floating point).

In case someone here doesn't know, GigaFLOPS means "billions of floating point operations per second."

For what it's worth, the original PS2 itself is rated at roughly 6.2 GigaFLOPS, that's not including its high-speed internal memory bus. Actual practical GigaFLOPS performance was probably around 4.0gflops tho, due to multi-core synchronization and other mess.
