How to Fine Tune Xenosaga 3 in the PCSX2 Nightly Build
#1
[Request] Please Bring Back Multiple Bindings Per Controller (FIXED!)

I can see that you've been trying to modernize the UI in the nightlies. That's good and all, but when I installed the most recent nightly, I found that that feature had either been removed or is very difficult to find, I had to use the stable port instead.

I was trying to play Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra with a friend. While we can share the same method of control, I favor gamepads and he favors the keyboard and refuses to buy a gamepad. The multiple bindings feature allows us to play together without any issues.

The emulation on the old stable version isn't that bad, although the opening video is half-broken, the colors odd here and there, and some minor graphical issues. But on the upside, it doesn't have these unsightly scanlines that you've forced on us in the Nightlies. (I'd love to know how to get rid of those. I don't much care for the retro vibe. The graphics presented by the stable version with the right settings are much nicer IMO)

For instructions on how to optimize Xenosaga 3, navigate to page 2.

As you can see it's a pixelated mess and these scanlines are forced, whereas on the stable version, the graphics are cleaner.

Whoa! This is weird... the scanlines aren't visible in screenshots! Not very. Sure the fonts suffer, but looking right at the game, the scanlines are there. I wonder why they get filtered out. I'll see if I can get some screenshots that actually show them! AH! I'll use my camera!

What I See:

What I Snip Off My Screen Internally:

As you can see here, when you snip, the scanlines disappear (some post processing or something?) but if you take a picture, what I see is captured accurately. The scanlines are everywhere, from the top of the screen to the bottom.

Hopefully if you look closely, you'll see the scanlines. Since I have a 65 inch 4k tv in front of me, I can't help seeing them. But they don't exist in the stable build.

Here's a picture and snip from the stable build. As you can see, even though it's a different scene, a bit beyond the location in the last post, there are NO ugly scanlines anywhere to be seen! (So it's not my screen for sure to blame!)

Thanks for your help! I managed to get rid of the scanlines! (maybe?) It was due to your hint about it maybe having something to do with interlacing. I tinkered with that and then toggled everything on and off and got an acceptable result. I can even install a custom texture pack that improves the look of the game, which was my secondary goal here. :3
