How to Fine Tune Xenosaga 3 in the PCSX2 Nightly Build
#11
For those who want to play Xenosaga 3 with fairly ideal settings (at least as far as I've been able to tell) I'll paste in a set of steps that I compiled that explain how to fine tuning the game in PCSX2 Nightly Builds (current).

(ONLY FOR THE LATEST NIGHTLY BUILD OF PCSX2 OR LATER
THESE INSTRUCTIONS ARE ONLY FOR XENOSAGA 3)

Go to Game Properties one of these two ways :
1. If the game isn't running, right click on it in the game list. In the case you're looking for Properties.
2. If the game IS running, under Settings on the menu above, choose Game Properties

Renderer (Up Top In Graphics): Vulkan

In the Display Tab :
Aspect Ratio : 16:9 (Or Standard 4:3 if you prefer)
FMV Aspect Ratio : 16:9 (Or Standard 4:3 if you prefer)
Deinterlacing : Adaptive (Bottom Field First, Similar to Bob + Weave)
Bilinear Filtering : Bilinear (Smooth)
Enable Widescreen Patches (Checked On)
Anti-Blur (Checked On)
VSync (Checked On)

In the Rendering Tab:
Internal Resolution : 8x Native (Yes... 5K. It eliminates nasty scanlines more than 4K does)
Mipmapping : Default
Texture Filtering : Bilinear (PS2)
Trilinear Filtering : Trilinear (PS2)
Anisotropic Filtering : 16x
Dithering : Off
Blending Accuracy : Maximum (Very Slow)

Texture Preloading : Full (Hash Cache)
Manual Hardware Renderer Fixes : (Checked On)

The last setting in the previous will create two new tabs by Rendering: Hardware Fixes and Upscaling Fixes!

In the Upscaling Fixes Tab :
- Half-Pixel Offset : Special ( Texture ) (Only for Vulkan and OpenGL Renderers?)
- Round Sprite : Half
- Align Sprite (Check This Option)

In the Hardware Fixes Tab :
- Auto Flush : (Enabled (All Primitives?)) (I'm not sure about this since he's so vague!)
- Texture Inside RT : Inside Target
- Skip Draw Range : Default: 0 | 4 (Toggle the second value to 4 and any garbling in the opening video or more issues should vanish!)
- Disable Safe Features : (Checked On)

In the Advanced Tab (Far to the right of all the tabs) :
- VU1 Clamping Mode : Extra + Preserve Sign
( Don't set VU1 Rounding Mode here to positive. Although it can fix the shadow issue, it will cause the game to crash in other places. For example, such as when Ω Id uses of Destruction Wave )

Download the texture packs on the forum page here: *snip*
Xenosaga TRILOGY HD texture pack by Panda_Venom

Navigate to your pcsx2 folder, open the textures folder (one should exist by now) and unzip the texture packs here. What you want is for the folders named SLUS-????? are directly placed inside the textures folder.

Back in the Game Properties:

Choose Graphics on the left again.

In the Texture Replacement Tab :
Dump Textures : (Checked OFF) - You don't want this on!
Load Textures : (Checked On)
Asynchronous Texture Loading : (Checked On)

Now you're mostly done aside from some fine tuning I don't know about.
