How to close with a controller?
#1
Hi, I am using pcsx2-qt 1.75 with launchbox. Is there anyway to force the emulator to automatically close after exiting a game? Is there anyway to exit the emulator via keyboard or controller? In older versions (such as V1.6) of pcsx2 we used to be able to close the emulator program with the "esc" key.

But now (in game) it goes from full screen to windowed and pauses and requires task manager to actually close. When out of game the only way to close program is with a mouse by clicking the X in the window's menu bar.

Requiring task manager to close is incredibly frustrating. I don't see any settings to adjust this. There isn't an option in the Hot Key section nor in the .ini file.

Please is there anyway to close the Pcsx2 program with a keyboard or controller? Is there anyway to close the program along with the currently running game?

thanks for the help

Don't use launchbox wrapper. There's a dialog you're missing. When you try to close the emulator there's a popup dialog that says "do you want to make a save?". Or disable "confirm shutdown" checkbox in the emulation settings.

So, funny that you mention this... I also noticed odd behavior about it. While it looks fine when going from windowed mode... The first time it shows up for me when going from full screen... it looks like the screenshot. If i click on X all the following times it's still a bit distorted but at least more visible (still squished though).

Yay, i just realized I can disable that dialog completely by un-ticking 'confirm shutdown'.

Thank you for the advice. I'll check that out.

Last year I built a mini PC with an Asrock mini X300W and a 5700g apu with 16 gigs of 3200mhz ddr4. At first I was using it as an emulation console with Batocera on my living room TV. Which is amazing but limited to being only a console. Recently I decided to install widows to make it more versatile and use it as PC/entertainment center with the same TV. Figuring win with launchbox/bigbox is the best of both. The preinstalled OS on the TV sucks bad. Now the TV is just a really big monitor. As it should be. I also use an androidbox for some streaming. With the newish windows box I'm using the adriodbox less and less.

The apu easily runs pcsx2 at 1440 and above (game dependent) it even runs PS3 at native and sometimes up to 1080. It's a great living room pc. I am currently using the PC with an xbox controller and mini keyboard with a touchpad. This is very similar a laptop setup. Which works pretty well but is sometimes awkward. Not sure why but a keyboard/mouse make for an awkward remote. Especially when interacting with game emulators. Which is why I am trying to avoid touching a mouse and setting things up to be a button push. Tab to change fields, D pad or arrow keys to scroll and a button push to active things.

So far I've set up Dolphin, retorarch, ppsspp, redream and this. Next is mame, rpcs3, citra-qt and melonDS. I've got a busy day.

Thanks again for the advice.

Follow up question. I unchecked the confirm shutdown box and ran some tests. Now "esc" closes the game but leaves the emulator program open. I remapped "ctrl" to bring up the emulator menu with save states, settings, and game exit.

When using emulator with launchbox going from game to game you end up with several instances of pcsx2 running. I have the same problem as before. How to close the program as well as the game.

Thanks.

start PCSX2 with the -batch commandline and it will exit when you quit your game.
