How to improve pcsx2 performance in CRAPPY netbook?
#1
First, my netbook specs,

Intel Core 2 Duo 1.6 Ghz, GMA 950, 1GB Ram.

Yes, I know. My netbook doesn't meet your minimum requirements. But I'm serious. I've been playing around with PCSX2 for a several months.

My stable, fastest pcsx2 version is 1.1.0.5760 (svn).
My fastest GS Plugin, gsdx 4600 (MSVC 15.00, SSSE3) 0.1.6 [gsdx-ssse3-r4600]
I always change theme to Windows 7 basic when I play it. Also sometime I stop explorer.exe process.
I use speed hacks, frameskip in some games, clamping modes are set to none, Direct3D9 (hardware), Native ps2 resolution (some games 2x).

I don't remember some stuffs I did. But these are what I'm currently doing.

I have tried these games.

1. Naruto Ultimate Ninja 5 (45-50 FPS with framskip.)

2. Bully (30-45 FPS)

3. Sims 2 (30-40 FPS)

4. Lego - Star Wars (20-30 FPS , with framskip 30-45 FPS, but in most area, many graphical error glitches.)

5. WWE - Here comes the pain (40-50 FPS)

6. Metal Slug Series (45-50 FPS)

7. Downhill Domination (40-50 FPS with 2x native)

8. Time Splitters 2 (30-40 FPS)

9. Adventures of cookies and cream (30-45 FPS)

10. Dragon Ball Z - Infinite World (50 FPS)

11. Half Life (45-50 FPS)

12. Sims - Bustin' Out (25-30 FPS, only works with software mode, hardware mode laggy)

13. Avatar - Burning Earth (30-45 FPS)

14. Bloody Roar 3 (40-50 FPS)

15. War of the Monsters (45-50 FPS)

and more.

Yes, it's fun to play already. But I want more performance so more fun. Tell me if there are others tricks to speed up my games.

Thanks.

You should still be using the latest dev build here: https://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

Aside from that, your CPU is bottlenecking everything. It will be impossible to run those games at full speed with your current system. Make sure you're using OpenGL or DX11 instead of DX9, that will resolve some of the graphical errors you are seeing.

And probably reduce the speed because graphical errors are poperly emulated

walker99 I don't think there is anything else you can do to improve the speed(other than trying the latest beta and enable more options that make pcsx2 less accurate).
Believe me I know,I come from a pc with Pentium 4 2.8Ghz,6600GT and 1gb ram and I've been using pcsx2 on that pc since 0.9.1 till 0.9.8 or 1.0.0(I don't remember which was the latest version November 2014)

DX9 is all that it supports. Everything else is out of the question. Maybe mesa opengl for windows ?

Use custom resolution and try setting it to lower than native resolutions. Tongue2

Nothing else can be done  as the netbook is only for surfing internet and can't be overclock.

Hey, thanks. But I can't use latest build, because these builds are more slower for my netbook. (I can't use my fastest plugin on that builds.)

Thank you man, so there's no more tricks to tweak. I will just consider buying a new desktop.

You're right... that gpu only support DX9. What is that mesa thing? How can I do that?

Really? I have no experience with that. I'm worry to do that.

Yeah... I think that is dangerous.

Yeah, I tried that. No speed up. Native is best for me I think.

Okay, then there is no tricks. I just thought nothing is impossible. Maybe netbooks just doesn't have the chance.
