What's the best way to update from 0.9.8 to 1.0? Does it mean uninstalling 0.9.8 then installing 1.0? Thanks in advance.
How to properly patch PCSX2?

Yes and no.
You can also download rhe binary version and extract it over pcsx2 installation dir, This way you'll get the newer Plugins and keep the old ones. This can be useful for some games...

As long as you back up your memory cards, you're fine because settings can be re-done. I'd recommend getting the binary/portable version so updates are a simple drag and drop.

So I've fiddled with the installer and I can't find a way to choose the directory. Is there a way to do it?

In other words, I'm not entirely sure of what to do. I'm afraid I might break the program if I touch something.
the installer ?
I thought you downloaded the binary package ? If so, there is no installer. this is just a copy/paste matter

I meant the binary package, sorry. It looked like the PCSX2 installer though.
If this is just copy pasting, how do you copy/paste this binary into the PCSX2 folder?
