well i had no problems even on my old conroe E6600 either, i didnt change any settings except i went from SSE3 to SSE4.
i use hardware. Software runs at full speed with three threads, but i like how hardware looks more
settings are on default for most pcsx2 settings. my graphics plugin is:
1920x1080 or windowed (sometimes issues getting out of fullscreen)
Direct3D10(Hardware)
Interlacing(None)
4:3 or 16:9 (depends on if game supports widescreen)
D3D Internal 1920x1080
Texture Filtering on
Edge Anti-Aliasing on (not supported in 0.9.6 if i remember right)
Enable output merger blur effect on (not in 0.9.6 " ")
edit: for catalyst driver im currently on 9.1, im lazy about updating lol 9.4 is out

I'm using Vista too, but if you give me some games you've tried, (that I own) I can see what I can find on dx9 for settings that works.

Why do people still say it sucks? I've been loving it way more than XP. It looks prettier, runs smoother, has DX10, WAY better built in voice recognition, more secure...I dunno, it's just all around better.

more memory leaks, much bulkier of a os, aimed at 7 year olds.. bsods less though, I'll give it that. and it blocks internal programs that are microsoft preinstalled
