I recently upgraded my CPU, the performance improvement is better than expected.

I recently upgraded my Ryzen 5 1600 CPU to a Ryzen 5 5600, and I get 2-3x the frame rates in PCSX2.  I was maybe expecting a 50% improvement, which would have been consistent with what I got in other applications.  What is it about PCSX2 where newer CPU architecture gets such a massive improvement, even atypical of what would be expected in general gaming?

For example, software mode used to chug on the Ryzen 5 1600, it was a coin toss whether a game even ran full speed on software mode, and the 5600 just totally kills it, running up to 500%+ with the limiter off, it's honestly kind of nuts how big the improvement is.

Curious, how good is Ryzen 3600 or Ryzen 4100? Smile

Those are probably more than good enough for PCSX2, just basing that on how hard the 5600 crushes it.

Also, all I did was update my bios to fit a 5600 chip in this old x370 motherboard, I didn't even change the ram, or do anything else, and I got the 5600 for sale on newegg for $130 during Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.

I am finding it amusing that you call x370 motherboard 'old'... While I'm sitting on Z97 put together in 2015 with i7-4790 and thinking I can pull another year or two out of it... I wonder what mine should be called? Geriatric?
