The actual emulation itself shows the PS2's red screen for when it fails to read a disc but the log shows no read errors. I've only had it happen with a couple different games, persistently, across multiple settings and using different ISOs.

Always create your ISO with imgBurn, this should resolve your issues. Maybe your media is in so bad shape, that is unreadable.

Really? If i understand correctly his iso is not recognized as correct PS2 disc.
