Hello. Thanks for the time and help.
Despite how good PCSX2 is and feeling like my specs should be decent enough, I'm getting inconsistent performance almost regardless of any combination of settings, even at default/native resolution.
My PC:
HP EliteDesk 705 G5
Windows 11 Pro
NVMe SSD 256gb
CPU- Ryzen 5 Pro 3400G (PassMark Multithread- 9090, Single thread- 2301)
GPU- Integrated, Vega 11 (PassMark- 1936)
32gb ram
Tested on both 2.0.2 stable and 2.1.173 nightly
Games involved:
Guitar Hero 1, 2, and Encore (Haven't tested anything else, can if necessary.)
The issue:
Unsure if it's frame pacing or what, but I'll be hit with microstutters, slowdown, and full on hitches that last a half second. SEEMS to happen as venue effects pop in during the song (flashing lights, etc.), but even then, it's inconsistent and erratic. I could play the same song at the same venue, and it'll seemingly perform slightly differently each time. Sometimes, even at 3x 1080p, (Which I realize my GPU isn't quite up to snuff for 3x, probably.) it'll run beautifully for a bit, breakdown, go back up, etc. My PC isn't chugging or anything at 3x either, the fan does kick in a bit, but not wildly. Software renderer does make it chug, but that's obviously very CPU intensive. Lower settings do help a bit. Thread Pinning helps slightly, switching Hardware Download Mode helps.
All power settings in Windows, AMD software etc., I've set for maximum power and performance. I've seen that in other threads. Messed with settings in AMD, nothing seems to make a big difference. Windowed vs Fullscreen helps slightly.
These things that help don't seem to be getting to the root of the problem, though.
But, perhaps it's just that my PC isn't quite powerful enough for flawlessly smooth performance! Or the nature of it being an HP office computer with integrated graphics, maybe PCSX2 is a bit less efficient with that kind of setup?
