Input not being recognized

I just downloaded the PCSX2 software, version 1.6.0, and whenever I start up the ISO, either fast boot or full boot, I get stuck on a language select screen:



I've tried both with and without my USB controller plugged in, and I can't get past this at all.  It doesn't respond to any input at all, and I'm at a loss for what to try now.  Here's what my current LilyPad settings look like.

did you at least bind the keys ?

Yeah, went through and bound them twice, just to see if that would make a difference.

wgat if you bind them to keyboard instead of your pad ?

That solved the problem! Got past that screen, then figured out that my keybindings had been overwritten, so I'm good now.
