I tested the PSX bios on both 1.4 and d25ef6 (current latest version of 1.5) and on both it stays on a black screen for a second or two and then the emulator crashes (including the debug console window). Is there any way to fix this?

I don't think you could boot the PSX bios on original hardware.
So, no, probably no fix

Correct, this wouldn't work on real hardware either.

I think that @SCOTT0852 mean PSX DVR that is PS2 hardware. Iirc, there was idea to implement support for it. But it was low priority, and nothing moved forward since then.
