Is it better an Intel i5/i7 CPU or an AMD Ryzen 2600X to run PCSX2?

Yeah, 6 core is more than sufficient in this case.. PCSX2 only really uses 3 cores..

it is misleading to tell people pcsx2 only uses 3 cores. For hardware mode that may be true, but software mode can use more than 3 cores. I own a few games that require 5+ threads to run full speed in sw mode. not an issue with the cpus mentioned in this thread, but someone reading this thread who owns a standard 4 core cpu , it can be misleading

I think you are still confusing software threads with physical cores. Most people won't be using software mode as it requires more CPU power.

Pcsx2 only uses 3 cores, SW mode can use more threads but as far as hardwaar threads / core go PCSX2 only uses 3 ever.
