Can i have an example of it? I'm using ATI and run all the games same as nVidia users. Its not like Intel has SSE4.1 and AMD doesn't. PCSX2 doesn't rely on any nVidia special features.

It does not but it seems there is a driver bug on the Ati drivers or anyway the way gabest has coded the plugin favors Nvidia cards. The bug is existent and very obvious in 2d scenes/games mainly. We don't know if it affects all radeon cards. There has been an extensive discussion in the past in the plugins section but I can't seem to find it...

So would it be beter to go with the nVidia 9600GT 512 DDR3 over the 9600GT 1GB DDR2?
My Spec's are:
OS:Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
CPU:Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 3.0GHz
GPU:Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB GDDR3

Controller: SSSPSX Pad plugin 1.7.0
Cdvdrom: CDVD 0.1.0

In my opinion, there is no need for 1 GB of memory for a graphics card of the 9600GT series...since you will need more than 512mb on extremely high resolutions, which this card would anyway crawl if you used them
I'd say go for the 512mb one.

So, sound's like it's a nVidia 9600GT 512MB for me then. Does anyone know how it preforms compared to my nVidia 8400GS 256MB?

Sparkle's a fair brand, heard it's pretty reliable, just cash out a little bit more money. 9800GT is well worth it, 95/96 technically aren't performance cards.

That one on newegg is a low profile one so i can't say i'll get that. But it's only NZ$30 over budget so i'll heavily consider that one. Has anyone got it? How well does it play PCSX2?

I beg to differ, I have used both 9800gt/9600gt and find that they are mostly the same in normal res. (1280x1024). Both get ~10k of 3dmark06, similar performance in Crysis & Company of Heroes; and, of course PCSX2 also. You should try 9600gt...

Edit: 9800gt is slightly better than 9600gt in higher res (1440x1280 or smthing)

But would I see an improvement over what I've got in PCSX2 for Final Fantasy XII?

if you've got NZ dollars then i'm going to assume you're also from here..

go to the website www.pricespy.co.nz it lists the parts available here in order from cheapest to dearest, most of the decent computer retailers are listed there so you get a fairly honest idea.

you're so close to buying a 9800gt by the looks of it, i'd probably save a little longer and get the better card.

8400GS is a super slow cr*p, sorry. Even though 9600GT isn't the top it would fly compared to 8400)
