Issues with keyboard input

I wanted to test running some FPS games with a mouse and keyboard set up. I turned on the mouse input detection for the sticks, and then bound the keys on the keyboard for the controller inputs I wanted. But no matter what keys I set to which buttons PCSX2 will not respond to any inputs. I mapped start to enter and in game it does nothing, no keys do. I have tried multiple configurations. I have check all the controller input settings but there doesn't seem to be anything that will fix this issue obviously. I would think if PCSX2 can recognize my keyboard to set up bindings it should recognize said bindings in game. 

Anyways I have no idea why this is happening, and after doing some google searching it seems no one else is having this specific issue on this most recent version of the nightly release. So I hope someone can help me out.
