Its time... 360 controller help
#1
Its time that I test out my new laptop on the emulator. I went from a Pentium 4 with ht with a fx 5200 to whats in my signature.

First obvious thing is to search the forums. From what I've read, people keep saying that they plug their 360 controller into their pc and it works. Well, its not working for me.

I also think I needed lilypad which gave me a dll. I guess I'm suppose to put that in the pcsx2 plug in folder? correct me if I'm wrong.

So the first thing that happened when I connected my controller though usb is I heard a strange 3 beep sound (deep sounding low in volume) and nothing happened.

So where should I go from here?

run windows updates while you have the controller in, i think there is an updated for it, also in lilypad there is an option for that controller also, it must be on.

Well man I use the Xbox360 controller on my pc with no problems in 0.9.7

Even works for a new service called onlive Smile

To get mine to work properly I had to change some settings

Check under input API: DirectINput

check under game devices:

Direct input
Xinput
monitor in background

and make sure it says DX controller (xbox for windows) under device diag

well, those are my settings. IF those dont work im guessing it has to be yoru pc.

Does the controller work in windows?
check under your game controlers and calibrate it to make sure it works
if that doesnt work your going to have to uninstall the drivers and plug the xbox 360 controller back in to reinstall.

.. im outa ideas

Thanks, I was able to install the drivers but its still not being recognized.....

I went to manage/device manager and it is indeed being read but it won't connect.

input apis - windows messaging

Game Device API's - DirectInput, XInput (xbox 360 controllers only), Monitor when in background

mouse api windows messaging, start without mouse focus

I tried switching between lilypad 0.10.0 and r2930 but nothing. I'm also using the beta.

edit - I went to start, run, and typed in joy.cpl to test my controller and nothing is happening. I"m gonna start again from scratch.

wait a sec, do I need to buy something? I'm searching around on google and I keep seeing "run the cd your xbox controller came with" or something....

So just the controller and drivers won't work?

you dont need the cd (even if you did it comes with the controller itself probably), you can probably download the drivers from microsoft's website! or doing a windows update.

alright, so I have my drivers in, its in manager. Now, I'm thinking maybe my usb wire has something to do with it. I bought my charger at gamestop from Gigaware. Its a lot cheaper then xbox's charger (only about $12). Do you think this has anything to do with it?

I'm at a lost right now.

When you first connected your controller, what happened? were u able to just set it up right after without any problems?

also, how would I uninstall my drivers? It doesn't seem to be under add/remove (programs and features).
