Jak II: Renegade [SCES-51608] (E)
PC Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 @ 3.3Ghz
GPU: AMD Radeon HD6000

Build Description: PCSX2 1.5.0 - 1287
If other please specify: N/A

BIOS Used: Europe v02.00

EE/VU Clamp modes: Normal/Normal
EE/VU Rounding: Chop/Chop

Speedhacks Used: none

Gamefixes Used: None

Amount of testing done (little/medium/much/completed-game): Medium

Comments:
  • Very demanding in both software and HW modes, very often below 100% speed. EE, GS and VU Percentages are around 60-80%.
Setting speedhacks EE Cyclerate to 3 and VU Cycle Stealing to 1 gives reasonable performance at and near 100%, with less dramatic and less frequent speed drops. Setting VU Cycle Stealing to 3 shows false FPS and causes choppy gameplay.

Bugs:
  • With Direct3D Hardware renderers character shadows are stretched to the ground. Solution: Go to Config -> Video (GS) -> Plugin Settings, set the Renderer to "OpenGL (Hardware)" and set the Blending Unit Accuracy to "Basic" or higher. And make sure the CRC Hack Level is set to "Minimum" or higher.

  • In Hardware mode lights only shine at certain camera angles or area's of the screen. Solution: Go to Config > Video (GS) > Plugin Settings, click "Enable HW Hacks", go to Configure Hacks enable the "Auto Flush" hack. However, this partially messes up the shadows again and reduces the framerate by over 50%.

  • In Hardware mode Jak's face is green or rainbow colored. There is no known solution, use Software mode instead.

  • In Hardware mode the lack of mipmapping support causes messed up textures of item boxes, vehicles and some ground/wall textures at a certain distance. There is no known solution, use software mode and make sure mipmapping is enabled (press the insert key to toggle it).

  • In Hardware mode the eyes of all main characters are often black and/or closed, and eyeballs are facing the wrong direction. Temporary Solution: Switching to Software mode and back(F9 button) temporarily solves it. But there's no known long-term solution, you'll have to use Software mode instead.

  • In Hardware mode clouds are less detailed and in different places, and two lines are running along with the clouds. With the Direct3D Hardware renderers the entire sky is grey, with "OpenGL (Hardware)" renderer only part of the sky is covered in grey. Turning off depth emulation and blending unit accuracy did not reproduce the D3D HW conditions. There's no known solution, use software mode.

  • In Hardware mode water is missing the light reflecting(brighter) layer. There's no known solution, use software mode.

  • With the OpenGL Hardware renderer 3D objects and characters occasionally disappear and reappear. This is  a depth emulation bug, as enabling the "Disable Depth Emulation" HW hack solves it.
