Jak X (NTSC)
#1
Hello.

I tried for the first time to use PCSX2 today to play Jak X and first of all, I noticed a lot of people had troubles playing it, but most are advised to open a new thread, what's I'm doing.

So I downloaded the patch (here: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Jak-X-Pat...SC-and-PAL) and the game launches. I've been abled to do a few rides. Buuut the game crashes all the time. Most of the time, I can't even do a single ride and I have to try it a few time so the game doesn't crash. I've read on the PCSX2 wiki that "The patch makes the game run, but soon it will hang, and stop. To fix this, switch to Progressive Scan and 60 Hz, it makes the hanging happen later. " (source: http://wiki.pcsx2.net/index.php/Jak_X:_Combat_Racing). So are there people playing it without any problem ? How ? And where can I change what the wiki advises to change ?

I also have a lot of FPS drops, even in native graphics, while my setup should clearly no problem runing the game.

I'd really like to continue playing this game, but it's pretty much impossible atm, so any advise would be great guys !

Thanks for reading.

What version of pcsx2 are you running, and be aware that fixes may have come later that broke the patch, and that the patch might not even be required. I don't have the game so I can't test anything but its odd that its not working.

- I use the very last stable version of PCSX2 (1.4.0). The game doesn't work at all without the patch.

- I meant I'm pretty sure it should run it without any problem. (i7 4720 hq, gtx 950m, 8 Go RAM)

Give latest GIT a try.

And you're right. But make sure you set power plan to performance mode and that you aren't running on batteries.

I'm totally new to the PCSX2 world, so I have no idea what GIT is haha.

I checked and I indeed run the game with my Nvidia GC, on performance mode and not on batteries.

The PAL version of Jak X hangs pretty frequently for me as well.
Don't know what's causing it, but hangs seem to be more frequent on menus with embedded videos.
