Keyboard as a Keyboard?

Is there a way to get the emulator to recognize your keyboard as a keyboard - IE be able to use it to type in RPG Maker 2 or something like SSX3?

It seems like it would be fairly simple to do since the ps2 was originally capable of accepting a plug and play USB keyboard, but I'm not a programmer.

I think there used to be a USB keyboard plugin but I'm not sure if it works anymore. No idea where to get it either.
