Keyboard input Problems

My keyboard is acting all weird. I just installed PSX2 and the game seems to run pretty well. However, when i try configuring my controller, only numbers come up when i type into my keyboard. For example, for square, I would press the letter "S" into the keyboard. Instead, the number 1 appears in the configuration. And its a different number every time. Any help would be appreciated

I am using Lilypad 0.10.0. Numbers keep popping up whenever i try to input letters into my configuration except for up, down,left, right, shift,etc. Only the letters dont seem to work.

change the keyboard api from windows messaging to directinput, or inverse if its already on directinput
