Kingdom Hearts 1 crashing issue
#41
To be patient,testing takes time.
The problem seem to be pcsx2-r4828...it works file with the GSdx that comes with pcsx2-r4819

Can you try downloading pcsx2-r4819 and use the GSdx plugin that comes with it on pcsx2 1.0.0

I beat the boss twice with r4819 without any problems

Ok I'm back. So I tried fighting him again, and at first, it actually jittered and stopped for a few seconds, then went on, but a minute or 2 after, it crashed Sad.

Although this seems to be different I think, because Windows 7 reported that ntdll.dll caused the crash:

EDIT: I tried it a second time, and it stuttered a bit, then crashed. This time though, Windows 7 reports that it was the gsdx module that caused the crash:

Two final tests,if it's not working,then I don't know(it worked here)

First Try pcsx2 with those settings
Config=>Emulation Settings=>
EE\IOP - Click on the Restore Defaults Button
VUs - Click on the Restore Defaults Button
GS - Set Frame Skipping to default
GS Window - Enable only "Hide window when paused" and "Double-click toggles fullscreen mode"
Speed Hacks - disable all except the recommended hacks and move both sliders to default\disable
Game Fixes - Disable " Enable manual game fixes" if it's enabled

Use GSdx-r4819 with those settings:
DX9 Hardware
Interlacing - set it to none
Enable native,Logarithmic Z,Alpha Correction and half enabled texture filtering...all else disabled

SPU2-X:
Interpolation - Linear
Module - XAudio2
Synchronizing Mode - Async Mix
Disable everything else

Use Linuzappz ISO to load the game(not the ISO loader).

If the first don't work,try downloading pcsx2 0.9.8

Copy your memory card the the 0.9.8 memcards folder to be able to use the save

I'm making a new post just be sure you will read that part.
Forgot to mention to use the SSE2 plugin(I'm using that version)

And I just tried the whole battle again to make sure of something but again,no problems at all with the above settings
PS.I was testing it from the disk

Alright I'm back, btw I was using SSE2. It stuttered a small bit, but except that, worked fine. I repeat, it WORKED FINE!!! Thank you!!

So what now? Should I revert back to the gsdx 5350, and all my other settings, including 3x scaling?

Do you know what were the differences in settings between your old settings and those that I posted.

Are they just
PCSX2 - disable MTVU and both sliders to far left
GSdx - used native
SPU2-X - used Async

You can't really do anything about it,the point was to find the problematic rev and report it in the bug report forum...and wait for some dev to see your thread and fix the problem(if he feels like it)

I have a feeling that part of the problem was the 3x scaling(easier to trigger the bug on higher resolution)

The settings I were using were for GSDx: SSE2, DX9, 3x Scaling, No interlacing, Widescreen.

Speedhacks: Default, but also mvtu, although I can play fine without it.

All the other emulation settings are on default.

For SPU2-X, it was all on default.

And I was using the default ISO loader, not the Linuz one.

EDIT: Should I revert back my settings and gsdx?

Nothing stop you from using pcsx2 with his plugins and also GSdx-r4819.
You just have mu named GSdx to something different.

I used for the tests pcsx2 1.0.0 and just copied the GSdx-SSE2.dll file to my plugins folder.
And since the name for the GSdx version that comes with 1.0.0 is using GSdx.dll for a name,I can have both plugins and switch between them whenever I want
