Kingdom Hearts Issue

I recently started playing Kingdom Hearts 1 and whenever I try to leave Traverse Town the screen goes black and I can only hear the music. I tried to google the problem, but haven't found anyone else having this problem. I'm using pcsx2 1.2.1 on Windows 8. Can anyone help me out?

OK, I started playing around in the video plugin settings and i ended getting the world select to come up by switching the renderer from Direct3D9 (Hardware) to Direct3D11 (Hardware). Thanks for the help anyways everyone.

You should always use Direct3D 11.
