LMA Manager 2003, 2004, 2005
#1
Hi there, I'm new here so be nice lol.
Well my problem is that I have the 3 games of the series in LMA, and none of them seem to work on my PCSX2, I have changed to numerous plugins and still have no success.

What happens is, after loading the game, I get through the checking memory card and past the opening FMV. But when I get to the main menu the music plays (slowly on 2005 and 2004). Everything seems normal for 3-5 seconds, but then it freezes, even if I do not press a button on the main menu.

Below are my specs that get me through to the main menu.
PCSX2 :
PCSX2 beta 1888
ZeroGS 0.97.1
SPU2-X 1.2.0
LilyPad svn (r 1853) 0.10.0
cdvdGigahertz (r2361) 0.8.0

I play straight from the disc and have ripped .ISO's to see if this would help, still nothing works.

I don't know if there is a work-around for this issue or if any of you are aware of this, but any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack

your version of pcsx2 is pretty old. give the latest beta (3113) and the latest beta plugins a try

Thanks for the reply, I done what you said with an updated version, but still the same thing happened.

I should add that the music continues to play but the graphics seem to freeze.

I don't really understand the nomenclature of the log, but here it is when I ran LMA 2003.

That's probably unrelated directly with the problem, but avoid using special folders to install applications. That means you should NOT install games at the following folders:

(My) Documents - for XP and up. Keeping configuration and save files and folders there is OK, just not the executable(s).

Desktop - XP and up --- this one should not contain anything more than icons and shortcuts, even keeping actual files there is a serious performance hindrance. And yes, it's a special folder for windows.

Program Files or Program files (x86) - Only for Vista and Windows 7; Using it in XP is OK - that folder is now treated as specially protected and can lead to several kind of issues, mostly those related with permissions and resources access.

Recycle Bin - Luckily this one does not allows doing anything with it's content anyway Smile if it could certainly someone would use it.

System and akin, well just for the completeness sake, I don't know actual case of someone trying to use them to install things.

Now, the actual problem - both, CPU and GPU are too slow for PCSX2. It would be hard to play a light game like FFX. I don't know these games you are trying but they may be simply too much for your rig.

The log shows you are using an "actual driver" be it a physical driver with a real DVD or a virtual driver with mounted ISO.
The first case worsens yet more the machine being not quick enough (if such is possible), the second case can lead to problems too, better would be mounting the ISO in Linus ISO plugin or the builtin ISO reader.

nosisab Ken Keleh:
He has no performance problem. There is no folder permissions problem either.
His games are just unsupported in PCSX2, at least from the sound of it.

Jack1888:
You could try switching gamefixes and speedhacks on/off and see if that helps.
If it doesn't change anything you're out of luck for now and need to wait for the
games to become playable one day.

I know, just that C:\Users\Jack\Desktop... tells how users are unaware of folders purposes, and actually the C:\Program Files was supposed to be indeed used for installation but sorely it's more a source of problems than anything else.

Think it as an educational campaign, meant to alert newcomers for the dangers in there.

Ok thanks for all of the advice, the problem still persists after me trying all of your options.

I have noticed a few things, when on the main menu EE approaches 100% as the game crashes, from like 40 -> 99 and after the graphics freeze the audio then regains normal speed as both the graphics and audio are slow and choppy before this.

Although I have found a (sort of) workaround.
For those of you who haven't played any of the LMA series, it's basically an opening menu where you can start a new game or load one. As I have said, after 3-5 seconds on the main menu the game freezes with continuing(normal) audio. But as generally it would take around 15 seconds to properly start a new game it usually crashes within this time. However if you choose every option very fast, like without changing anything, the game can progress to the full game obviously before the 3-5 second crash. When it does there is no more crashes but the game is very slow, playing at about 1/4 of the actual speed it is supposed to.

It generally is a speed problem, I should also add that my ps2 opening sequence (the moving lights) and the ps2 logo appear very slowly.

I don't know if I could rip an .ISO of the file to try on someone's emulator, as I feel it may be either my settings or my laptop that wouldn't let me play.

Anymore help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jack
