LillyPad Mouse API does not respond in-game

It allows me to set the keys to my mouse in the key configuration but they will not work in-game. what am i doing wrong?
I've enabled the mouse api obviously and have tried all the options (Windows Messaging, DirectInput, Raw Input) but none of them seem to work. Im using a wired mouse.
