Looking for advice on plugins for computer

first, specs
CPU: Intel Core i5 750 @2.67 GHz
4 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5700 series

I'm trying to run shadow of the colossus, and I've got a pretty limited understanding of plugins. I'm pretty sure I should be getting faster fps, because now I average at a disappointing 20 fps. What plugins and settings should I use to maximize speed?
