Looping sound in Katamari Damacy

Halfway through the first level, a sound starts to loop no matter what else you're doing in the game (paused, playing, etc.). It genuinely sounds like someone rapidly sawing a metal pipe. I tried different audio sync modes, changed the latency, and tried every other audio option to no avail. I have preset 2 and the game runs fine at 100%

Are you sure you tired setting the audio synchronization mode to 'Async Mix'?

Absolutely. I made sure to check the wiki for the proper configuration before even loading the ISO. The issue even persists if I save/load a state.

Tried setting DelayCycles to 1 ? you could find it in SPU2-X.ini file at INIS folder.

Changing the DelayCycles to 1 does not make a difference when loading the save state. I can't reproduce the issue on a consistent basis but it has happened half a dozen times so far and it appears to be tied to one of the alert sounds the game makes your katamari ball reaches a particular size.
