MGS2 cutscene problem

So I started playing MGS2 after completing MGS3(which I had no problem running) and after I get off the tanker and finish the codec conversation as raiden with the colonel the game just freezes and I can't play it
any advice
system specs:
FX6300
radeon 7870
8GB corsair vengeance
(that is all that really matters )
