MGS3 Subsistance - FPS drop in cutscene
#1
Hi, I recently passed Metal Gear 3 on emulator, FPS in the gameplay is excellent but during the cut scenes it can drop to 30. Any tips on how to fix, maybe I use some wrong settings?

My PC configuration and settings:

GPU - 1080gtx, CPU - i7700, 16gb vram, 1440p monitor.

(I do not have window speedhacks in English, sorry.)

I will be glad to some guides or advice, thank~ :3

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):

Negative EE cyclerate will not help, either move it to +1/+2 or leave it at 0. Smile

Maybe switch to OpenGL as well (but it may be slower due to higher accuracy).

Also try reducing resolution to 3x, MGS3 is very demanding.

Negative EE cyclerate makes the the Emulated PS2's CPU weaker which can be useful for speeding up games that do not fully utilize the full capabilities of the PS2 hardware. It can and will cause slowdowns in games that need that performance from the actual PS2's hardware though. For an i7 7700 CPU it should really never be necessary to do (except maybe the t variant) since any game that would be able to run with a slower emulated EE (the PS2's CPU) should not really be an issue for your actual CPU to handle and any game that is slow on your CPU is likely using all that the PS2 has to offer.
A positive EE cyclerate might improve performance on some games where the PS2 hardware struggles, but at the cost of being more demanding on your hardware to run.
