MGS3 Subsistence Doesn't completely start up
#1
Ok I just got PCSX2 to work with my games and I tested it with a reguler version of MGS3 (Not Subsistence) and it worked fine. Now I'm testing it with the Subsistence version and the game doesn't completely boot up. It shows the Konami logo and the Kojima Productions but after that it just hangs on a black screen. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Try making an ISO out of your original physical disk and try checking the status of the issue. if that still doesn't help then, try pressing F9 during the black screen area.

and stop using that unofficial version of GSDX. I would also get the latest GIT version from our downloads section on pcsx2.net

Is there a suggested ISO program that I should use? I was going to use PowerISO but is there a better alternative?

I got the latest one and set it up. The reason I got it was because I saw a suggestion of one that worked well with MGS3

We usually recommend imgburn as it's free and works great.

I tried doing that and every time I download it Norton detects it as an infected file and removes it.

I really wouldn't recommend Norton.

tell norton to make an exception, it's because they use opencandy as part of the installer (offered software) and antivirus doesn't like it (understandibly) but there's no problem as long as you don't install the bundled software
