Does anyone have settings that will run it smooth?

I can get it to 60fps almost all of the time, but once a pitch is thrown it will drop 10-15fps and make it really hard to time it right. This only seems to happen when i'm batting, when I'm pitching it works fine.

I've tried a bunch of different combinations but i can't find one to get it smooth.

its not using 100% cpu or anything, only about 70-80%

I'm using build PCSX2 1.1.0.r5645

Win xp
CPU speed 2.624 ghz (dual core)
Ram 4gb

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

You'll almost never hit 100% CPU usage because a game would have to equally stress all threads it's running on equally. In the vast majority of cases one CPU core will be maxed out (95%+) and the other not as much (generally because it's waiting on the other one to finish what it's doing).

You can see this in the gameplay windows. If either EE or GS (or VU1 if you have MTVU enabled, which you shouldn't on a dual core processor) is hitting 95-100%, you're at your CPUs limit.

hm it's been so long since i used pcsx2 on xp i can't remember whether it was good or bad

does xp allow you to use more than 1 core ?
Not sure what graphics card you have, it's memory bandwidth,
it's temperature, fan speed, what pixel shader it has
try TechPowerUp's gpu-z

Not sure what your cpu is try cpu-z

I tried those settings in that post, but they are like a year old now i was hoping someone found some better ones.

And yeah xp runs more than 1 core lol.. both of my cores are using about 30-40% each during the game.

And i tried the latest svn build and didn't notice any difference.
