MLB the Show

Want so much to play MLB the Show 10, but it is so sluggish on my system.
Here is what I am running.....
AMD Phenom x4 3.4 GHZ
6 GB Ram
NVIDIA GForce GT740
Windows 7

My son *who supposedly knows these things) say's if I update my video card, things will
work out for me with no sluggishness.  He say's a  EVGA - NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 SC 2GB GDDR5
is all I need.
Before I drop the money would like a second (or third) opinion..
Will I see a noticeable improvement in graphics with this card.
How much of the power is gpu vs cpu dependent ?

For emulation CPU power is more important and it is really your CPU that is the biggest bottleneck currently.

I am guessing that your CPU is the phenom II x4 965 which has single threaded performance of 1184 where we normally recommend 1600 for most games and 2000+ for demanding titles.
