Metal Gear Solid 2 substance leads to black screen
#1
I have the mgs essentials collection version of Metal Gear Solid 2 substance and it gets to the playstation 2 text them freezes. I have tried just about everything I could find and it is still black. I use PCSX2 1.2.1r5875. I have also tried the latest SVN and version 0.9.8. I requested a skip movie pnach and think maybe that will work.

does it work if you use your original DVD instead of iso ?

No I've tried using linuxiso to use a file path to the dvd and using the actual dvd. When using the dvd it does not show up in the ps2 browser it acts like a game is not in there. But all my other games work either way. I even had the dvd resurfaced and made a new iso. The dvd size is only 2.2gb and other threads say it is dual layered.

it is.

make sure to use imgburn to make your iso. Because one of your layers is obviously missing

That is what I used both times. I did order another copy online. The copy I have now is from the essentials collection. The one I ordered is the original sustance. Even in my dvd drive it is 2.2gb but other games are 800mb to over 4gb and they all work

those ones aren't dual layered, i guess.
either your dvd drive is faulty, or it's your game.

try ripping it on another pc if possible.
