Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Save/Load Problem
#1
I'm using the latest version of PCSX2 and i was playing through the game and everything was working perfectly but now all of a sudden i cant save or load my game. I have tried reformating, I have tried making new memory cards and importing my saves. Not really sure how to fix this. Saving and loading works in both God Hand and DBZBT3.

It happened to me once when I tried to use customized memory card. I had replaced a savefile but in the end, it became corrupted.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any solution.

Did you used MyMC or any other memory card modder ?

Yes but it was after the I came across the problem. I exported the saves (including the one for god hand and DBZ) deleted the memory cards, created new ones, and imported them back into the new memory cards. Didnt change anything. Is this a known problem with the current version? I didn't get too far into the game but i don't want to restart just to have the same problem occur.

No, this is not a known problem. Are you using a non standard size memory card?

And when you are trying to make a new save, are you first loading from a save state? Because if you are, it's gonna do the same thing over and over. Save States save everything, including any glitches or bugs that have happened. Try to start a fresh game and see if you can save.

Used the default memory cards that were created. 8mb. Also i went back and started a new game and was able to save and load on both memory cards. just not my previous save. I can easily restart and get back to the point i was at if i skip cut scenes but I would really like to know what possibly caused this so i don't run into this problem again. Here are a bunch of screenshots of my settings. Thank you for your help.

Why you got that manual gamefix enabled? AFAIK, its not needed for this game, and could cause problems.

Yes it is a known problem.

I played it last year around august and i finished the whole game just using save states. But the card was working on all the other games.

I remember there was even a thread for it and no one knew the solution. You can even google and people having same problems.

I fixed the problem with changing the BIOS version from Europe to USA. When i was using Europe bios of MGS3S even after following the steps correctly i was not able to find any data in load menu. So after i saw that a lot of people got the same problem and no solution i decided randomly just to change bios version. So now i am using USA bios version and i downloaded a useful save file that also has USA(North America) bios version. And it worked for me! now im gonna play! Smile I hope that this was the case for most of you too.

Replying to a 2 year old thread with a solution. You're a god among men, homie. Hope this helps anyone doing google searches for the same problem i had 2 years ago.
