Model files

But there's no tool to open this file because the game is a little known. Does that mean it can not be in any way open?

What you need here is a lot of knowledge and some time. Possibly there is a program out there to open these files. But the .dat ending won't help you as file endings can be randomly given by devs. You probably need to read the file using an hexeditor. Depending on your knowledge you can read from the head or content of the file what kind of file it is and how it was created. Using that knowledge you might find the possibility to reopen the models.

It's not that easy. The files were meant to be read by the ps2. Not by you on windows. So dont expect any usability. Possibly there is even some copyright protection that will make it almost impossible to read it back. (Well except for maybe using an emulator). If pcsx2 would allow dumping models this would be your easiest solution. Unfortunately it doesnt.

Not necessarily. I don't know how PCSX2 handles differences in files. When you mess with models it's almost guaranteed that the filesize will be different (Maybe the final CRC of the game might end up being different as well?) How PCSX2 will react to that is beyond me. Maybe one of the devs can shed some light on that matter.

It can't help. You need a specific tool designed just for this game that can extract the files from the .dat file. If such a tool doesn't exist then it simply won't happen unless you make it yourself.

Not on here. You'd have to find a forum where people are specialized in that stuff.

You'll have to do a lot of reading:

Or try to ask the author.

Xentax forum is the place to go for help with stuff like this. I joined there when I was trying to extract images from Persona games and wouldn't you know it - between me and them we developed TMX explorer. Those guys do this stuff constantly. Ask there. http://forum.xentax.com/
