Monster Rancher 3 Progression

So I'm fairly new at emulation but for some reason when I try to play MR3 there seems to be a pretty big issue. 
There seems to be no way to progress in the story line. Even after 43 matches and playing a bunch of tourneys I can't seem to gain any ranks.
Please help, I can't seemt to find any answers on the web.

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.

• Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  
• The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  
• Any non default settings you are using.
  
• What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Are you fighting to START at D rank? Fighting at E will not progress you at all. You need to fight at the highest level available to you to rank up, you also need to win the tournaments at the end of months
