Most efficient CDDVDROM plugin?
#1
Is 59 fps(vsync'd) good for my computer specs, or you guys think i could get more out of it?

Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.528Ghz
4GB RAM
Nvidia 8600M GS (it's the laptop version)

To sum up: I've messed with every setting available, but to test every option with the CDDVD configurations would take just too damn long, since i would need to create/compress/decompress .Isos. So what cddvd plugin you guys find the most efficientr?

So you guys think i should create an ISO off of the dvd and run from there? With no compression right?

Why would you need more? I assume you're using an LCD with a 59/60Hz refresh rate. With Vsync on you are not going to see more than 60fps anyway.

An ISO is always going to be faster than your DVD Drive and is the best way to go/

Alright, i'm making an iso then.

And you are correct, my lcd has a 59Hz refresh rate, but i can't seem to hold that 59fps on in-game cutscenes, and it's very annoying since it's the ONLY aspect that isn't smooth so far.

Thanks for the help guys

You're not the only one who uses Vsync, I use it myself, can't stand the screen tearing without it.

Here's a tip that might help, download RivaTuner, it comes with a D3DOverrider that allows you to use Triple Buffering with D3d Apps (in this case pcsx2). I use it and it gives a much smoother experience, your FPS will still drop, but shouldn't drop as much. BTW, I set Vsync in D3DOverrider, not in GSDX, I also set the Frameskip options to "Normal" in the CPU options of PCSX2, this will render all frames as fast as possible, but the Vsync will keep it to 60.

The only other way to get it smoother is to increase your CPU Overclock.

I dont think he'll be overclocking, since it's a laptop and most lappys run hot. But if he got some great cooling then why not.

RivaTuner and its tools are great, try it!
