NEED HELP: my pcsx2 crapped out. choppy/flickering screen constantly
#1
Hey everyone, signed up to the forums to post in here because I'm desperate. Been using pcsx2 for almost a year with no problems. I'm currently playing Xenosaga 3 from an ISO file, which was running fine up until a few days ago. The screen keeps chopping up and flickering out of control. Naturally I tried messing with the plugins, but to no avail. It keeps getting worse and worse. It went from running perfectly in HD to being an unplayable mess.

I am desperate. Please help. I gotta at least finish Xeno 3. I attached a screenshot of my current settings

I'm not sure what info i need to provide, but here's what I got.

intel core i3-6100 CPU @3.70GHz 8GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit, nvidia geforce gtx 1060, PCSX2 version 1.4.0

In order to help you further with your problem, please make sure the following are all provided.
  • Your hardware specs - CPU, Graphics Card, Memory, Operating System.
  • The version of PCSX2 you are using.
  • Any non default settings you are using.
  • What games you are trying to play and if you are playing them from ISO or DVD.

Thank You.

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]
Pasted emulog goes here

We can't access that file since it's stored on your computer locally. You could upload it to an image sharing website like Imgur, but posting your settings and emulog will be much more helpful to us.

Thanks for the patience, I'm not super tech savvy so this is difficult for me.

OK, download and extract the latest dev build here: https://buildbot.orphis.net/pcsx2/

Make sure you switch to the OpenGL renderer instead of using DX9.

Did it, and I'm getting the same problem! It's so frustrating. I don't even know why this is happening. The emulator was running beautifully for almost a year...
Maybe there are some settings/hacks I can play around with. Any suggestions?

What happens if you use the SW renderer?

BY GOD HE DID IT!!! THE MADMAN DID IT!!!

It's working flawlessly!!! I am so happy.

Is there a way for me to run this setting, but have it be HD like it was before? When I use SW renderer all settings are grayed out.

I don't own the game, but try changing the EE/VU rounding and clamping modes to see if it fixes the issue. My assumption is that you may have an issue with your GPU, I don't really know to be honest.
