Need Help with Performance

Hey guys, new user here looking for some help in getting Altered Beast to run smoothly. During gameplay the FPS drops from around 60 to under forty and can never climb back up. I'm using a laptop which is running:
GeForce GT 745M
Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHZ
8GB of Ram
Windows 8.1
I don't think my setup is weak but maybe it is. I just want to be able to play Altered Beast as smoothly as possible and any help would be greatly appreciated.

set your windows power plan to high performance and make sure you arent running on batteries.
can you please post the emulog.txt ?

Would power plan affect this even while I'm plugged in? Also is this what you are looking for?

Yes, your cpu will not use it's full potential so, make sure to set windows performance plan to high performance in control panel. and, please post a screenshot of all of your pcsx2 settings. also, try enabling the MTVU hack for a speed up in most games.

Probably should have realised that haha. Do you think my specs should be enough to handle it though?

decrease the EE cyclerate by one value and increase the VU stealing by one value if, it still isn't fast enough then, play at dx11 (software mode) and set extra rendering threads to 3 .

your processor can handle most of the ps2 games fine but, I'm not sure of this specific game you mentioned earlier.

@ssakash: If you don't know about the specific game, why are you recommending he use cycle hacks at all? If you look in the wiki, DESTRUIDOR did a test run of the game with an i5-3330 and he was able to play the game just fine without cycle hacks and even mentions that it should be very light on any CPU/GPU. BarakaJack's CPU has a higher STP than DESTRUIDOR's so he shouldn't need to use cycle hacks at all.

@BarakaJack: Your specs are more than enough to handle that game, at least according to the wiki. I would say turn EE Cyclerate all the way down. Show us your GSdx settings. Maybe you're trying to upscale the game too much? I will say this though: You have the SSSE3 version of GSdx selected in your Plugins section even though your computer supports the faster SSE4.1 instruction set. Your CPU also supports up to AVX2, so I would just pick the AVX2 version of GSdx. AVX2 helps with software mode rendering.

He did mention, He used standard speedhacks. He might have increased the EE cycle rate or the VU stealing so, it would be best to not Jump to conclusions.

I've PM'ed DESTRUIDOR and asked him what he means when he says 'standard speedhacks'. I can pretty much guarantee you that no one that knows anything about PCSX2 would consider cycle hacks 'standard speedhacks'. I'm pretty sure by standard speedhacks he means the recommended speedhacks, AKA the ones that are on by default and maybe MTVU.

you can use the sse4.1 or the avx gs plugin to get a mild framerate increase.
Power plan to high performance and plugging of the cable should be necessary and sufficient to solve your problem.
