New SSD as boot drive, now original memory cards can't be found!
#1
I just recently changed my PC's boot drive to be a fresh SSD. One of the first things I did on it was install PCSX2 so I can resume my game (R&C3); so with my original hard drive still connected, I went to the original PCSX2 folder containing all of the save game data.

When I compared it to the newly-created memory card files that were recently installed with the new PCSX2, I noticed they were both the same size. Copying them (and the savestates) over to the new install of PCSX2, the previous saves were not there. No game data, no save state...

Now I'm concerned I have lost all of the data for ALL of my games! Can someone point me in the correct direction on how I can find my actual memcards?

Please post the contents of the emulog.txt file after the problem occurs. The file can be found in "My Documents\PCSX2\logs" for the installer version or in "PCSX2\logs" for the portable/binary version.

Please make sure to enclose your emulog in code tags like so (remove the empty space on the closing code tag!):
[code]
Pasted emulog goes here
[ /code]
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 3800X
Mobo : Asus PRIME B450-PLUS
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

With all due respect, I don't think this is the type of error that would warrant a pull of any logs. The game itself ran fine, but none of the previously saved game data was available.

The key word here is "installed"
While using the installer version of pcsx2,pcsx2 stores your saves into memory cards located in Documents\PCSX2\memcards
1.Did you copy the cards from that location before switching to the ssd?
2.Did you used the memory cards system or the folder memory card system
3.I don't know if this is the case with this game but there are games that load and save only to the first memory card(did you set it the right way to slot 1)

If you used the installer version before and since there is no installer version of pcsx2 1.5.0(it's portable only),your old cards must be placed in pcsx2 main directory in memcards

The memory card size(unless it is ntfs compressed)is the same regardless if it is empty or completely full
And if your progress is on save states only, then yes,you are out of luck...save states from 1.4.0 are not compatible fro

The emulog would have helped us knowing so.
But since op knows better....

I guess he solved his own problem

  1. No, I copy/pasted them over after installing the SSD and installing a fresh version of PCSX2. The memory card files went from disk E (original drive) to disk C (new SSD).
  2. I believe the folder memory card system? I'm unsure of how that and the former are different exactly.
  3. It was continually using slot 1 for all I know. I made no changes from the default slots.
That's interesting about the sizes of the games. I never knew!
And yep, there are actual save games and not solely savestates.

is this where you actually copied your old memcards over ?
because that's where pcsx2 is looking for its memcards
