New to Linux

I'm using PCSX2 for the first time on linux and i'm trying to play Jak X and Jak and Daxter but it wont go past "pick a language" and press the "X" button. I connect a xbox 360 controller and it lights up but does't work. it works with steam but not pcsx2. anyone know how to get it working?
