No random encounters code for Wild Arms 5?
#1
Looked all over for a code, can't find one.  How are these codes generally made?  I'd love to learn how to make my own but since it isn't as simple as scanning for changed hex values...

You take codes from Gameshark or whatever and convert them using technical stuff. There's a tutorial here, somewhere.

I can do that, however the problem is that a gameshark/codereaker/ar max doesn't have the code to start with.

Oh, I'm not sure then. Rarely use cheats at all. Maybe there's a pnach or some code on this or other forums? I'll look around a bit.

Why not? It could just be a value of 1 that needs to be set to 0.

There may be a better way but this is what I find by doing a quick memory search

This disables the battles
patch=1,EE,00EDCD38,extended,00000001
patch=1,EE,00EDD028,extended,00000028
patch=1,EE,00EDD058,extended,000000B0
patch=1,EE,00EDD060,extended,00000028

And this enable them
patch=1,EE,00EDCD38,extended,00000000
patch=1,EE,00EDD028,extended,00000020
patch=1,EE,00EDD058,extended,00000090
patch=1,EE,00EDD060,extended,00000020

You know that the game allow you to enable\disable the battles if you beat the Sol Niger mini boss of the area...well switching between enabled and disabled changes those values.

I haven't touched the game yet, I did look up about sol nigers but the faq wasn't clear about them. Thanks for the code, I was born too late to appreciate random encounters Tongue is there a guide or something where I can learn to do this for other games?

If you want to manipulate a feature you often need a scene in the game where the feature is present/unchanged and a scene where the feature is changed. By switching between these two you can find the proper mask using a program like cheat engine by searching variating values in the whole address range.

Cheating is for some games easy as hell. But others are really stubborn.

This seems to be for the US Version, for Pal it does not work. too bad.
