in the configuration use ONLY the latest versions of all the plugins (example: gsdx sse2 2693)

next: disabling the "allow 8 bits" in gsdx may give some speed
in some cases enabling the "ps2 native resolution" will give speed on VERY graphic demanding games (like metal gear solid 2 and 3)
in advanced options you should put the clamp modes to NONE
and last play more with speedhacks.
