Occasional tearing and FPS drop with Siren (Forbidden Siren 1)
#1
Hi, everyone. I've browsed previous Siren threads but I wasn't able to derive some recommended settings from them.

For the most part, it runs okay. But I've run into a couple of problems:

a.) Occasional tearing (is that what it's called)?

Here's a screenshot from a movie early in the game:

Again, this only happens on occasion, and I usually get nice crisp shots like this:

b.) Whenever I get to stages where there's a light drizzle, my FPS drops to 30 or so. It seems it has difficulty rendering all that drizzle?

Here are my specs. Please let me know if you need more info. I'm also attaching a log, if that helps.

Core 2 Quad Q8400 @2.66 GHz
4.00 GB RAM
Windows 7 32-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS

I forgot to mention that I haven't modified the settings since I installed PCSX2 (v 0.9.7.3876m).

Thanks in advance!

PCSX2 settings? Plugin settings? What do the EE/GS% numbers in the game window say when you get slowdowns?

8400 GS is pretty bad. Like worse than modern integrated graphics bad so you might want to turn down your internal res/scaling. As for the first issue, that's called interlacing, not tearing. You can change interlacing options in the Video (GS) Plugin Settings menu. I usually use Blend BFF.
