Occasionally Frame Rate Drops FFX
#1
Hey guys, I'm running this game @ 50fps most of the time. However, the frame rates drops down between 50-40fps during scenes but surprisingly it never decreases in FMV mode. I've noticed that when this happens, there are a lot of stuff happening at once- And during some wide open areas with a lot of details.
This IS durable but, it can get a bit annoying- So I'm wondering is there anything I could do to Improve the overall performance?

My system specification :
Intel i7 860 @ 2.8ghz
8GB of RAM
GeForce GTX 275 with 896 video memory

Thank you.

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention that, during some battles, my party members stands the opposite direction. This also goes for some of the bosses as well. This just may be a bug though.

Wow, same CPU. Tongue2 But i never get slowdowns.

Make sure to the following :
  • Use MTVU Speedhack.
  • Change the Power Plan mode to High Performance
  • Speedhacks : EE Cyclerate to 2, Enable INTC Spin Detection, Enable Wait Loop Detection
  • Disable Allow 8-bit Textures in GSDX.

Hope that might solve the problem Smile

The problem must be that you are running the game from a DVD disc directly. Instead make an ISO of the disc with imgburn and run that with the PCSX2 internal ISO reader.

The facing backwards problem can be fixed by changing round mode to nearest or clamping to full, don't remember which exactly but try them out and you'll find it.

Also with that beast of a card I'd suggest setting 3x or 4x scaling instead of native Wink

Change the round mode to negative --- this will fix the characters facing wrong direction in battles ..
I used the default settings of pcsx2 and didn't get any slow down even with x2 scaling though my specs is much lower compared to yours.

Procie: AMD A4-3400 @ 2.5Ghz
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Video: AMD Radeon HD 6410D 2GB 128Bit

try Bositman's suggestion to run the game directly from your hard disk not on DVD .
