Overbloom issues with Yakuza 1 & 2

Are you using a custom ir? Try to use a standard one.

Always a good idea to check the compatibility list to check your settings against known good ones.

Could you please check if your CRC(s) are among those? :

{0XD3F182A3, Yakuza, EU, 0},
{0x6F9F99F8, Yakuza, EU, 0},
{0x388F687B, Yakuza, US, 0},
{0xB7B3800A, Yakuza, JP, 0},
{0xA60C2E65, Yakuza2, EU, 0},
{0x800E3E5A, Yakuza2, EU, 0},
{0x97E9C87E, Yakuza2, US, 0},
{0xC6B95C48, Yakuza2, JP, 0},

If it isn't, then please post your CRC (with the game and region) and we'll add it.

There are CRC hacks for Yakuza 1 and 2 which improve the overbloom, but IIRC it doesn't fix it completely. So if your CRC is not on that list, adding your CRC will probably improve it. If it is on the list, then that's the best we could improve it.

Please note that your GSdx plugin has to be at least version r4912 to include the Yakuza fixes.

Also, you could disable CRC hacks via GSdx config panel by enabling HW hacks, then open the HW hacks dialog and checking "Disable CRC". So you could compare if the fix affects your game on places where you got overbloom.

Generally though, SW mode is the most compatible, and it's known that on some games HW rendering is not perfect.

I've tried 1024x1024, 1600x900, 1920x1080, 1680x1050... Doesn't change anything.

At PCSX2's log console (the window with all the text), when you start a game, you should see a line similar to this:

ELF (cdrom0:\SLES_820.13;1) Game CRC = 0x086273D2, EntryPoint = 0x00851F40

So, the "Game CRC = ..." part.

So that's on our list as Yakuza 2, which means the fix is most probably applied, and unfortunately, that's as good as it gets.

But since the thread title is about Yakuza 1 and 2, you can also check if your Yakuza (1) CRC is also on our list, and you can also try my previous suggestion to disable CRC hacks and see how it looks without the fix.

Yes, both Yakuza 1 ( EU & JAP ) I got, have their CRC on the list.

I tried to disable CRC hacks and it doesn't fix overbloom issues. The whole screen is blurried and the game is running very slow.

When you say that's the best you could improve.
Does it mean that's the best you can do currently or maybe in the future, this issue will be fixed with new versions of Gdsx/PCSX2 ?

Unfortunately this problem is a side effect of running the game at a higher internal resolution. There's nothing you can do about it, really.

There is a way of getting all the bloom effect off by using a shader. But it's a very tedious process to get it to work.
