PCSX2 1.1.0.0 freezes on ubuntu
#1
Hi, pcsx2 freezes when i start a game.
Installed with ppa, default plugins (ZZ Ogl PG 0.4.0, CDVDnull Driver 0.6.0), computer hardware is ok because pcsx2 works fine on windows.
Code:
ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Memory 3,9 GiB
Processor Intel® Core™ i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz × 4
Graphics VESA: JUNIPER
OS type 64-bit

I remember having some problems with playOnLinux for somenthing like nvidia drivers (i am using ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver).
Here is the program log:

any terminal warnings? what game(s)? have you compared to gsdx plugin?
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)

I run it from application menu, not from terminal.
All games, also with gsdx

I don't know if this is expected ,or a consequence or even related, however if i select Fast Boot it tends to freeze much more often.

GPU info:
Code:
glxinfo| grep string
Code:
dpkg -l libgl1-fglrx-glx

FYI, I won't be able to fix the crash soon. I'm currently hacking mesa to add the support of an openGL extension (GL_ARB_separate_objects). Unfortunately in the process, I mess up my Debian system and broke various package dependencies... I'm currently waiting the release of Debian wheezy, so newer library with multiarch support will be uploaded in SID. Hopefully they will release Wheezy in april Smile

I mention this because it helps identify if there is an "X Window System Error" that would show up if running from terminal. This is important to figure out stuff regarding driver isues. Open a terminal and type ' pcsx2 ' to get it to open.

For glxinfo command you may need to install mesa-utils package in Ubuntu repository.

For Ubuntu the package is a different name. This quoted command shows a bad query.

Try this...

dpkg -l fglrx (assuming proprietary driver is installed)
OS: Linux Mint 17.2 64 bit (occasional Antergos/Arch user)
(I am no longer a Windows user)
CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
GPU: Nvidia GTX 650 Ti

Hey, I have this same problem but from the beginning. I start PCSX2, insert disc, it registers, and then I select either Boot CDVD (Full) or the (Fast). When I do that, it opens the new PCSX2 window, and then freezes after a few seconds. Just a white titled window with nothing going on in it. I then attempt to close it, bringing up "The window "PCSX2" is not responding. Forcing this application to quit will cause you to lose any unsaved changes." I am using 12.04, and have 1.2 GB of RAM with a Intel® 945GM x86/MMX/SSE2 graphics card. Any assistance is appreciated.
